NFL: 10 players who will become stars in 2014
By Pete Schauer
Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs
Travis Kelce missed out on his rookie season after undergoing microfracture knee surgery, but the 6’5″ tight end’s athletic ability is too difficult to ignore. Fantasy owners won’t want to hear this, but Kelce excels in the run-blocking game, which is part of what makes him such a dynamic tight end.
But not to worry, fantasy owners, because Kelce can bring the offense, too.
Kelce really emerged as a must-have NFL prospect during his final season at Cincinnati, when he scored eight touchdowns and compiled 722 yards on 45 receptions. That should transition into the NFL nicely, especially with a QB like Alex Smith, who regularly looks for his tight ends.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kelce show some rust in the beginning of the season, but by season’s end, I’m expecting everyone to be talking about the Chiefs’ stud TE.
