NFL: Which team will go worst to first in 2014?
No. 3: Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons were a massive disappointment last season. The offensive line and defense as a whole were both abysmal and then when injuries struck their talented WRs it was all over in the ATL. The Falcons did a respectable job at addressing some of their issues this offseason. The additions of first round pick Jake Matthews and free agent Jon Asamoah should help the OL and they added some serious bulk on the defensive front with Tyson Jackson, Paul Soliai, and Ra’Shede Hageman.
If the Falcons dynamic WR duo of Julio Jones and Roddy White stay healthy this season then the offense should score plenty of points. They’ll need to prove they can run the ball and find a pass rush, but even if they don’t they should still be better than last season. The main obstacles of the Falcons pulling off a worst to first turnaround remain the Saints and the Panthers. You add to that an improved Tampa Bay team and it will be difficult for the Falcons. That having been said, this team made the NFC title game just two seasons ago, so they’re a team to watch.
