And: Quarterback Jay Cutler can stay upright for the entire season. That’s something that hasn’t happened for the eight-year signal-caller since his first year in the Windy City in 2009.

Trestman knows a thing or two about quarterbacks as well as offense. Even using two different starting quarterbacks last season (Cutler and Josh McCown) could prevent the Bears from finishing second in the NFL in 2013 in points scored (445). That’s also because the surrounding cast is as good as any in the league and all of it works thanks to a rebuilt offensive line that played well this past season.

Perennial Pro Bowl wideout Brandon Marshall now has quite the playmate in Alshon Jeffery, who really came into his own this past season after a so-so rookie campaign. The duo combined for 189 receptions, 2,716 yards and 19 scores. Marshall led the club with 100 catches and a dozen touchdown catches, while Jeffery rolled up a team-high 1,421 receiving yards. Add in Martellus Bennett and perhaps a player to watch in journeyman Zach Miller and the Bears may have two tight ends that can cause defenses concern.

Of course, the Bears’ running attack is paced by versatile Matt Forte, who finished second in the NFL with 1,339 yards rushing and third in the league with 1,933 total yards from scrimmage. The six-year pro totaled a career-high nine rushing touchdowns in 2013.

All of these options, along with that revamped offensive front featuring, among others, left tackle Jermon Bushrod and right guard Kyle Long, should provide Cutler the opportunity to do something he hasn’t done in his NFL career to date—throw at least 30 touchdown passes in a season.
