9. Andre Drummond:

2013-14 Stat Line: 81 games, 32.3 MPG, 13.5 PPG, 13.2 RPG, 1.6 BPG, 1.2 SPG, .623/—/.418 shooting, 22.6 PER

The argument can be made that Andre Drummond is already overrated. Though he posted a pretty darn impressive stat line in his second season in the league, he’s a little bit of a stat sheet stuffer whose free throw shooting severely limits his effectiveness. Drummond has the potential to be a terrifying two-way force, but his defense still needs a little work even if he does spend a lot of his time helping out the flat-footed Greg Monroe inside.

But in spite of his slightly inflated numbers and horrendous touch from the foul line, Drummond has one thing going for him in 2014-15: Stan Van Gundy. With a new coach and general manager at the helm, Drummond and the Pistons will be in a better place in a few years. Don’t forget, Dwight Howard developed into the monster he is under Van Gundy’s tutelage and now that Detroit has some perimeter shooters to spread the defense, Drummond will have more opportunities to dominate in the post.

Drummond’s offense largely revolves around cleaning up the boards and getting second chance points, which certainly isn’t the worst thing in the world. But considering Drummond is already one of the league’s best rebounders after only two seasons, I’ve got to believe Van Gundy is going to get the best out of his franchise cornerstone.
