OF Joc Pederson, Los Angeles Dodgers

Pederson is a 21-year-old outfielder who’s been rumored to get the call up almost the entire season, but didn’t due to the Dodgers’ crowded outfield. He slugged 33 home runs in AAA this year, but at his peak, he’s more likely to be a 20-HR type in the Major Leagues. He’s capable of playing all three outfield positions, but might find a more permanent home in right field eventually.

Drafted in the 11th round in 2010, Pederson got second-round money, and has above-average tools almost across the board, but nothing really stands out. He’s likely going to be good, but probably not spectacular, though Pederson did post the first 30 HR/30 SB season in Pacific Coast League history this season. Both his speed and power tools expect to play at the big-league level.

Pederson strikes out a lot (149 Ks in the minors this year) but also walks at a good rate as well, with 100 BBs in 553 plate appearances. He’s not going to be a superstar, with his grinder approach to the game, there’s a good chance Pederson blossoms and becomes an all-out type of fan favorite in LA.
