More from Miami Marlins

In what was otherwise just another baseball game in the final weeks of the regular season, things took an especially unfortunate turn when Fiers accidentally hit Marlins’ slugger Giancarlo Stanton in the face with a pitch. That stopped the game for an extended period of time as Stanton was stabilized and carted off the field.

It was reported after the game that Stanton sustained facial lacerations and that he would have to have X-rays and a CT scan done as well.
