The baseball world turned its attention to Milwaukee on Thursday night after a scary moment involving star Marlins’ outfielder Giancarlo Stanton.

More from Miami Marlins

It was a truly frightening visual as Stanton took a fastball from Mike Fiers to the left side of the face. The ball hit him flush in the face, causing him to go down and bleed from his mouth. He eventually had to be stabilized and carted off the field.

Shortly after the game ended, the Marlins provided an update on Stanton’s status. What is known is that he sustained a facial laceration. What is yet to be determined is what might be found through further testing.

The scene eventually turned ugly in this one, with more hitters plunked, players and managers ejected, and the benches clearing. The final hit-by-pitch was a Miami retaliation in which Carlos Gomez was hit. Thankfully for everybody involved, Gomez put his head down and jogged to first, putting the issue to rest for the remainder of the game.

That allowed for everybody to re-focus on what is important here, which is the health and recovery of Stanton.
