Ryan Mathews, RB, San Diego Chargers

Every year it seems like we’re talking about a Ryan Mathews injury, and here we are again in 2014.

Coming off a season in which he played in all 16 games and rushed for more than 1,000 yards for the second time in his career, Mathews was forced to exit Week 2 with what doctors are calling a sprained MCL that will keep him out for at least four weeks, according to NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal.

If that’s not a disappointment, I don’t know what is.

To compound things, Mathews wasn’t all that productive in his first game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals, rushing for just 40 yards on 12 carries, posting a 3.3 YPC average. While he did find the end zone against Arizona and did face two solid defenses in his first two matchups, it’s still a complete letdown that Mathews will be sidelined for the next month.
