Quarterbacks

Start: In the first two weeks of the season, only the Saints have allowed more points to opposing fantasy QB’s than the New York Jets.  The Jets numbers are skewed a bit from getting bludgeoned last week by Aaron Roders, but their secondary has been suspect going back into the preseason.  New York’s struggling secondary but good run defense is exactly why you should start Jay Cutler this week as he visits the Meadowlands.  Cutler was the second highest scoring QB last week throwing four touchdowns against the 49ers and leading the Bears comeback win on Sunday night.  Cutler’s week one was marred by a pair of interceptions, but he still finished with 349 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  He’s off to a good start to the season, and is a definite QB1 consideration this week in a great matchup.(last week: Jake Locker)

Sit: Even though he’ll have A.J. Green back, Andy Dalton isn’t a great play this week against the Titans.  Tennessee has limited opposing QB’s to the second-fewest fantasy points in the first two weeks.  Tennessee is susceptible to the run. and Dalton may not get that many attempts since the Bengals are now a “run-first” offense under Hue Jackson.  I like the Bengals to win easily, but I’m not sure I’d use Dalton outside of two-QB leagues this week. (last week: Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler)

Flier: As a single-QB league flier, Ryan Tannehill is worth a look as he takes on the hapless Chiefs pass defense back at home in Miami.  Tannehill typically plays better at home and the Chiefs have allowed the third-most points to opposing QB’s over the first two weeks of the season.  In dual-QB leagues, taking a true flier on Matt Cassel could pay off as he takes on the Saints in New Orleans.  The Saints defense has allowed a league-high 652 passing yards in the first two weeks and the Vikings will most likely be playing from behind.  He looked absolutely horrible last week against the Patriots but should be able to bounce back this week in a much better matchup. (Last week: Alex Smith, Brian Hoyer)
