Among the top storylines for the Panthers is the health of franchise quarterback Cam Newton, who missed the team’s week 1 game with fractured ribs. He played in week 2 and is out there for week 3, with extra padding on his midsection, but it still has to be nervous times for Carolina anytime Newton takes a big hit.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ lineback Jason Worilds delivered just such a hit in the first quarter on Sunday night.
Newton was able to stay in the game without issue. Because of his build and the way he has been able to take contact over the course of his career, the Panthers do not necessarily need to be paranoid every time Newton takes a big hit. That said, this shot probably got their attention.
