Giannis Antetokounmpo: ‘I can play point guard’
By Wes Goldberg
When Jason Kidd first played Giannis Antetokounmpo at point guard during summer league, many wondered if the new Milwaukee Bucks head coach was serious about playing the 19-year-old there all season.

Then he brought in Gary Payton as a special advisor to help Antetokounmpo, and now it seems serious.
Kidd, who played with many unconventional his lineups in Brooklyn, believes the 6-foot-11 Antetokounmpo has the skill set to be a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. According to Alex Kennedy of basketballinsiders.com, Antetokounmpo is prepared for the challenge.
"“I’m not going to say I was shocked by it,” Antetokounmpo told Basketball Insiders when asked about the move to point guard. “It’s something that I feel comfortable with and I’ll play wherever Coach wants me to play, especially when it’s Coach Kidd who thinks that I can play point guard. That makes me feel like, ‘I can play it. I can play point guard.’ I’m going to try my best and just listen to Coach. I’ll do whatever Coach says to do and I’ll get more comfortable.”"
Playing some point guard during the Las Vegas Summer League, Antetokounmpo averaged 17 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, a steal and a block while handling the ball quite a lot.
It looks like Kidd is committed to continuing that experiment, but Antetokounmpo expects he will play both point guard and his natural small forward position. It isn’t known whether or not he will start games at point guard, or if Kidd will feature an exclusive lineup with him at the 1.
One thing is for sure, you’ll want to tune in your NBA League Pass to a few Bucks games this season.
