When Carmelo Anthony decided to re-sign with the New York Knicks this past offseason, he did so with the understanding that the franchise would be moving to a triangle offense. The change was important for Anthony who told team president Phil Jackson he no longer wanted to shoulder the scoring load.

Jackson informed him that the triangle offense wouldn’t require such and today hinted that Carmelo Anthony could play any position on the court for the New York Knicks, including point guard.

Needless to say, after signing his contract, Carmelo Anthony got right to work and has been preparing for the upcoming season including getting familiar with the triangle offense by speaking to players like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Scottie Pippen who’ve all thrived in the triangle.

“I’ve talked to MJ, I’ve talked to Kobe, and I’ve also talked to guys like Scottie,” said Anthony. “And the information I’ve got back from them guys, I’m just taking that and distilling it into a bottle and applying it to my everyday life.”

Combined with Carmelo Anthony’s impressive weight loss, it seems as if the New York Knicks’ forward (or maybe point guard) has dedicated himself to winning and really wants to be part of the franchises revival.

It may take more than just a season though it seems as if there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel for Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks.
