Miami Heat big man Chris Andersen had plenty of suitors when he became a free agent this offseason.

More from Miami Heat

Andersen’s NBA career looked like it may be coming to an end when the Heat signed him in the middle of the 2012-2013 season. Andersen played very well and became a regular member of the rotation as the Heat won their second straight NBA title in 2013. Last season, he played well again, helping the Heat return to the Finals.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were reportedly interested in bringing Andersen in to join his former Heat teammate LeBron, who of course left the Heat in favor of a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in July. The Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets also reportedly showed interest in signing Andersen. Instead, he decided to re-sign with the Heat.

According to Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post, Andersen was never close to leaving the Heat.

Andersen averaged 6.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 64.4% from the floor, 25.0% from three and 71.0% from the free throw line. In his 12-year NBA career, Andersen has averaged 5.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game on 52.9% shooting from the floor, 18.4% shooting from beyond the arc and 65.2% from the charity stripe.
