The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently the the most deep pocketed team in Major League Baseball and it’s quite possible they could bring another asset into the fold in the form of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets.

More from Brooklyn Nets

According to Nets Daily, Brooklyn’s current owner Mikhail Prokhorov has been in talks with Guggenheim Sports and Entertainment Assets about a potential sale involving the franchise.

"In the discussions, the team is being valued at $1.7 billion and the arena at $1.1 billion, said both sources. There is no agreement yet, nor a deadline for a conclusion of the discussions. The next step would be an agreement in principle followed by a closing."

The report suggests that if a sale were to be completed, Prokhorov would still remain in control of the Brooklyn Nets for the ‘foreseeable future’ though did not give a date as to which such would potentially terminate.

Zach Lowe of Grantland also stated that he heard rumblings of the potential deal.

Guggenheim Sports and Entertainment Assets purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2013 for $2.15 billion and would certainly pay more from the Nets given their ownership stake in the Barclays Center.

As to what this would mean for the Los Angeles Dodgers, that is not currently known though on the surface it seems as if the impact would be minimal if felt at all.
