The Dallas Stars continue on their season-opening losing streak with a 4-1 loss to the Nashville Predators

When the Dallas Stars finish a game with Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, and Trevor Daley all at a -3… and Alex Goligoski at a-4… things don’t look bright.

The Stars wrapped up another devastating loss Saturday night, as they walked away from the season’s second matchup with a 4-1 loss to the Nashville Predators. The team lost opening night at home against the Chicago Blackhawks in an OT shootout.

In addition to Benn and Seguin’s terrible on-ice presence, both Ales Hemsky and Jason Spezza- brought onto the team to help supplement the team’s top six offense- walked away from the matchup with a -2. The only players to receive positive +/- ratings, in fact, were those who were on the ice during the team’s one and only goal of the game- scored by Antoine Roussel, halfway through the first period.

Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne was a major source of speculation around the league leading into the season, as it was unclear if the veteran netminder would be able to replicate past successes and post stellar save percentages. Based on the early games of the season, though, things are looking bright- the Predators are one of the few teams around the league who have won all their regular season games so far.

The Predators were banking on Mike Ribeiro and James Neal to boost the team’s success rate this season, but it looks like the team has a whole wealth of scorepower. Shea Weber, Paul Gaustad, and Eric Nystrom provided spectacular goals during the game… and one of them is a blue-liner.

Nashville will play next on October 14th against the Calgary Flames, looking to improve their record to 3-0, while the Dallas Stars will attempt to record their first season win that same night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
