Chase Budinger Trade Rumors: Wolves, Blazers not talking deal
By Josh Hill
Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to move Chase Budinger in a trade, but talks with the Portland Trail Blazers have gone nowhere for now
The Minnesota Timberwolves appear to be done with Chase Budinger after just a few seasons of trying him out, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to be giving him away for free. As we saw with the Kevin Love trade, Flip Saunders is not afraid to come out and hold for a deal he wants, and that’s what we can expect with Budinger.

One deal that Saunders may want involves acquiring Thomas Robinson from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Budinger. There were reports on Friday afternoon that such a deal could be getting discussed, but Wolves beat writer Darren Wolfson shot down any notion that a Chase Budinger trade with the Portland Trail Blazers was being discussed — for now.
Robinson is a former lottery pick not that far removed from being selected by the Sacramento Kings, but was traded away in his rookie season. It was a bizarre thing to see, but Robinson played out the remainder of his rookie year with the Houston Rockets.
He was then traded for a second time in 2013 when the Rockets moved him to Portland which means a trade to Minnesota would be the fourth of his three year career.
It seems like a risky deal, but the Wolves want to move Budinger and getting back a potential star in Robinson for a player they see as disposable is one heck of a deal.
