Minnesota Wild’s Zach Parise is not thrilled with how Ryan Kesler ended the game Friday night

According to Zach Parise, Ryan Kesler’s hit on Mikael Granlund in the final minutes of the Anaheim Ducks’ victory over the Minnesota Wild was uncalled for.

The hit, which awarded Kesler a major penalty for charging Granlund from halfway up the ice, caused the game to end in a pretty impressive scuffle. Parise was awarded a major as well, for cross-checking Kesler in retaliation.

The Minnesota franchise had come into the game previously unscored upon, with netminder Darcy Keumper recording a shutout streak of 163 minutes and 46 seconds. The Ducks, in comparison, haven’t lost a game since falling opening night to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 6-4 loss, coming back with four consecutive victories. The Anaheim franchise has now beaten the Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, and now the previously 2-0-0 Minnesota Wild.

Although Parise and Kesler are teammates for Olympic Team USA, the Minnesota forward had some choice things to say about the hit on Granlund.

“Game’s over. It’s stupid,” said Parise, during a post-game interview with Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Both teams have been given an automatic cool-off day in the schedule, having Saturday off before Anaheim faces off against the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota faces off against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.
