Can Andy Dalton succeed without A.J. Green?

The Bengals are struggling. They looked like they were going to run away with the AFC North but they’ve stumbled lately and a large portion of that has to do with the injury to A.J. Green. While a team like Detroit seems to be able to overcome losing Calvin Johnson, the Bengals have not found an answer to missing Green.

Andy Dalton doesn’t look quite as good when his main target is out.

We don’t know when Green will play next. Maybe Sunday, maybe a week from now. Maybe longer.

But if Dalton can’t succeed without Green, that’s going to be a huge problem. Maybe Green plays on Sunday, but even if he does, he won’t be at 100 percent.

So one way or the other, we need to see something from Dalton in a critical game.
