On Monday, the Denver Nuggets parted ways with third-year forward Quincy Miller.
The Nuggets originally selected him with the 38th-overall selection in the second round in the 2012 NBA Draft. Some believed the former Baylor Bear would be a bit of a steal in the second round and although he was a part time starter for the Nuggets last year, he hasn’t show the promise some hoped he would.
That doesn’t mean everyone is ready to give up on Quincy Miller. Several teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers are interested in his services and the Lakers are reportedly the leaders.
“Free agent Quincy Miller has received several inquiries from NBA teams since joining the available market on Monday, with the Los Angeles Lakers as leading suitors for the forward, league sources told RealGM,” reports Shams Charania of Real GM.”The Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers also have registered levels of intrigue in Miller, sources said.”
Every team has some kind of whole at that spot – especially the Pacers without Paul George so Quincy Miller landing with any of those three teams would make sense. The Rockets lack depth while the Lakers need all of the help they can get.
Quincy Miller averaged 4.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last year while shooting 36.7% from the field, 31.9% from beyond the arc and 70.9% from the free throw line. He appeared in 52 games, starting 16. In his rookie year, the 2012-2013 season, he averaged 13 points and 0.3 minutes per game while shooting 33.3% from the field and 50.0% from the free throw line.
