Broncos vs. Patriots Final Score: New England Blows Out Denver, 43-21
By Josh Hill
The 16th meeting between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady was supposed to be classic but ended up being nothing more than a blowout.
If you were watching the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon, you might have thought it was Thursday night. There have been a slew of matchups this year that seemed liked they’d be good but ended upping blowouts, which was the unfortunate case with the Brady-Manning as Ne England dominated the game the whole way through.

Denver got off to a nice start though, as they led 7-6 but after that it was all New England the rest of the night. After trailing 7-3 in the first quarter, the Patriots scored 24 unanswered points to take an insurmountable 27-7 lead. Denver tried to stay in it but they could never get over the hump and erase that devastating lead.
Peyton Manning, like clockwork, threw for over 400 yards and a pair of touchdowns but it was the two throws that went to the wrong team that hurt the Broncos. It wasn’t a typical Peyton Manning game, as he looked mortal for the first time all season long. In the Broncos loss to the Seahawks, Manning at least turned it on to make things interesting, but against the Patriots the Broncos never looked like they were in it at all.
Tom Brady, on the other hand, looked solid the whole night through. He didn’t hit the 400 yard mark that Manning did, but he threw four touchdowns and only one interception. Rob Gronkowski scored another touchdown this season and nearly went for 100 yards again in the win. To match that though, Emmanuel Sanders went for 151 yards while Julius Thomas went for 127 yards — and the Broncos still lost by over 20 points.
It’s not the last time we will see the Broncos and Patriots go at it this season, but this is the game that may decide where the playoff game between the two teams with the result being something the Broncos will analyze the rest of the season. Phil Simms actually said something intelligent during the broadcast — the Broncos were concerned about changing their team for beating the Seattle Seahawks but they never considered how the Patriots were changing just to beat the Broncos.
