Tony Allen Fined More Than Adrian Peterson For Slapping Cameraman
NBA guard Tony Allen was fined more by the NBA for slapping a cameraman than Adrian Peterson was for his child abuse case.
When Tony Allen was fined $15,000 by the NBA for smacking a cameraman’s camera in last night’s game, many were surprised, but here’s something that’s gonna catch you completely off guard: Allen’s $15,000 fine from the NBA is 3.75 times more than what Adrian Peterson will be fined by the court after agreeing to a plea deal in his publicized child abuse case.
While this is the perfect case for someone to insert the “apples to oranges” statement, Allen being fined more than Peterson is just another showing of how celebrities are coddled by the justice system.

Sure, Adrian Peterson reached a plea deal with prosecutors in the case that forced him out of the NFL temporarily. But $4,000 as his fine? That’s nothing for a superstar athlete whose salary from the Minnesota Vikings is $11.5 million plus (signing bonus, incentives). That’s less than one percent of his total season salary and less than one percent of a game-day check he’d receive after a Sunday matchup. Once you factor in endorsement money (even if he was dropped by several amidst his controversy), Peterson’s fine won’t put a dent in his pockets.
It’s still a lot of money to normal people, but it’s chump change to Peterson. It’s likely that the NFL will hit him with a fine though as well, meaning the $4,000 check he cuts won’t be the last.
