NBA: 5 Early Darkhorse MVP Candidates
By Evan Massey
5. Chris Bosh, Miami Heat
The Miami Heat lost LeBron James this past offseason, and Chris Bosh has been more than happy to step up and be the number one option on the offensive end of the court. He showed the ability to lead the way for his team back in his days with the Toronto Raptors, and he is proving that it wasn’t a fluke. Miami looks like a playoff contender in the Eastern Conference, but they will only go as far as Bosh can take them.
Through the first fives games of the season, Bosh has averaged 24.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game and his offense has been very efficient. He has shot 47.5 percent from the floor, and has knocked down 42.9 percent of his three-point shots. Bosh has also averaged 2.8 assists per game and has done an excellent job of not forcing shots.
It’s going to be a very intriguing season for the Heat, but Bosh has been exactly what they needed him to be. Obviously Dwyane Wade still needs to play a big season, but Bosh is without a doubt their number one option.
Next: 4. Marc Gasol, Memphis Grizzlies
