Champ Bailey is one of the best cornerbacks that the NFL has seen in this era of football, and his career has finally come to a close. He signed a contract with the Denver Broncos today so that he could finish his career with the team that helped him become the star corner that he was for the majority of his career.
Throughout his 15-year NFL career, Bailey ended up playing in 215 regular season games. He recorded 812 total tackles, 52 interceptions, four defensive touchdowns, and 203 defensed passes in his career. Those numbers show just how dominant Bailey was in the defensive secondary, and there will be quite a few fans that miss seeing him out on the field now that his playing days have come to an end.
At the age of 36, Bailey simply didn’t have enough left in the tank to give it a go for another season. He did his best to play with the New Orleans Saints this season, but that simply didn’t end up working out.
All of that being said, Bailey had a very impressive NFL career and was a very successful player throughout the years. It is good to see him finish things up with the Broncos with one last contract, and hopefully his life after football is as successful as his football career. Bailey will be missed in the NFL, but he gave plenty of fans many reasons to cheer throughout his 15 seasons.
