Jonas Gray-RB-New England Patriots (8.4%)

Gray was on our list last week when I wrote “Don’t forget about Gray as he and the Patriots come off a bye week.  He’s one of the better running backs you can add as one of your waiver wire pickups week 11 if C.J. Anderson is already owned or if you have a lower waiver position and Anderson won’t be available.”

Even though I liked Gray as a pickup-and-stash option, I never saw Sunday Night’s breakout performance coming as Gray absolutely dominated the Colts brutalizing them for 199 yards and a franchise-record four touchdowns. Gray has led the Patriots in carries in each of their last three games and will continue to serve as their power running option the rest of the season after stepping in for the injured Stevan Ridley.

Gray’s usage will still vary in Bill Belichick’s system from week to week as the Patriots emphasize different weapons and gameplan to exploit their opponents weakness.  Despite the fluctuation in usage and production, Gray should be a must-own in all formats and is a strong RB2 consideration going forward as the Patriots showcase their power run game especially when playing from ahead.
