Dolphins vs Broncos Final Score: Denver Holds Off Pesky Miami, 39-36
By Josh Sanchez
The Denver Broncos played host to the Miami Dolphins at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Sunday evening, in one of many Week 12 matchups that had playoff implications in the jumbled AFC playoff picture.
Conventional wisdom would tell you that Peyton Manning and the Broncos would come away with the win at home, but the Dolphins showed up to give Denver all that they could handle.
When the final whistle blew, the Dolphins put up a great fight, but a strong fourth-quarter by the Broncos gave them the points they needed to come away with the big win.
The Dolphins were first on the board with a three-yard touchdown run from Daniel Thomas, before the Broncos answered with a field goal.

In the second quarter, the two teams alternated touchdowns as we went into halftime with a 21-17 slead for Miami. The Dolphins added to that lead in the third quarter, with a five-yard pass from Ryan Tannehill to Jarvis Landry.
Unfortunately, Peyton Manning and the Broncos woke up in the final fifteen minutes.
Manning found Demaryius Thomas to pull within three points, before CJ Anderson rushed in from 10 yards out to put Denver ahead, 32-28.
Ryan Tannehill had a chance to be a hero with under five minutes remaining in the game, but an attempted pass was tipped into the air and Broncos safety T.J. Ward came up with the game-changing interception. As you would expect, the Broncos took advantage of the turnover and Manning tossed a touchdown to Wes Welker to extend the Broncos lead to 11.
That was all the Broncos needed to put Miami away.
Miami did manage to add a late touchdown and two-point conversion to draw within three points, but they were unable to convert the onside kick attempt.
It was a solid effort by Miami, but missed tackling throughout the game and a lack of execution down the final stretch led to their ultimate demise.
Miami, who falls to 6-5, returns to action next Monday night against the New York Jets. The Denver Broncos, meanwhile, advance to 8-3 with a meeting against the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs on the horizon.
