Steve Smith is as good at starting fights on the football field as he is catching touchdowns and both skills were on display Monday Night.

The Baltimore Ravens knew they were getting a true spark plug in Steve Smith when the team signed him this offseason. Smith has a history of not really caring about his well being while on the field, especially when it comes to getting so fired up that he has to fight someone.

That was something that was on full display in New Orleans on Monday night, as Smith set his sights on Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro. The two exchanged blows along the Ravens sideline after Smith may or may not have slammed the safety’s head into the turf and ripped his helmet off.

Smith is a master instigator, and he took the young Vaccaro to task on a play that resulted in a penalty against the Saints. It really could have gone either way, as Smith was the clear instigator in the fight and was basically begging for a reason to fight. Unfortunately for Vaccaro, he took the bait and was flagged as a result.

It’s never boring to watch Smith play, as he is either scoring touchdowns or starting fights with the guys covering him — or in the case of Monday night he’s doing both.
