Jonas Brodin Returns To Wild Lineup After Recovery From Mumps
The Minnesota Wild will finally regain the services of defenseman Jonas Brodin, as the mumps epidemic fades away
Although the Anaheim Ducks are still scratching any players displaying even the mildest symptoms as a precautionary measure, it seems like the mumps epidemic has finally passed.

November started out with a bang, as the Ducks lost both Corey Perry and Francois Beauchemin to the rare disease. Almost immediately after those two left the lineup, the Wild went down a whopping four players with mumps symptoms — and one of those players was Jonas Brodin.
Prior to being diagnosed with mumps, Brodin had been playing top ice minutes for the Wild; in his final game before being scratched for the illness, the 21-year-old Swedish defenseman recorded a massive 27:02 minutes of ice time in a single game. He was second on the team in TOI only to Ryan Suter before having to sit out seven consecutive games.
In addition to Brodin, the Wild had scratched Marco Scandella, Keith Ballard, and Christian Folin for what was believed to be the mumps — but Brodin is the last player to return to the lineup.
The team has done fine in his absence, going 5-2-0 on the seven games he missed. His immense presence on the team’s blue line will certainly be welcomed back with open arms, though, as the team faces off against the Dallas Stars Friday night.
