5) Charlotte Hornets

Prior to the season, the Hornets were one of the trendy “sleeper” picks in the race for a top-four seed in the Eastern Conference. Since then, things have gone horribly wrong in the Queen City.

The Hornets have lost eight consecutive games after a five-point home defeat at the hands of Golden State on Friday night, and with that, Charlotte boasts an unsightly 4-13 record. With that roster certainly displays more talent than a team with that sort of winning percentage should have, the pieces have not fit together in year two under Steve Clifford, and the results have been disastrous.

Charlotte is currently a bottom-five team in the NBA in terms of net rating (-6.8 points per 100 possessions), and with an offense that has serious spacing issues, there isn’t an obvious improvement on the horizon. The Hornets probably won’t finish in the bottom five, but there aren’t many teams playing less efficient basketball right now.
