Andrei Kirilenko, who was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers by the Brooklyn Nets, is unhappy with the deal.

It’s pretty rare that a player, no matter the sport or league, is happy to be traded.

Yes, there are exceptions to the rule but more often than not trades become stressful times for families as they’re uprooted without much warning. That’s difficult enough in itself, but what happens when you’re traded from a potential playoff team to quite possibly the worst team in the history of the NBA? That’s exactly what happened to forward Andrei Kirilenko who was traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this week.

Many expected the veteran would be released, perhaps a sentiment shared by Kirilenko himself. However reports suggest the Philadelphia 76ers are exploring the idea of keeping the Russian born basketball player on their roster through the trade deadline which is not sitting well with Kirilenko.

Assuming Andrei Kirilenko was cut by the Sixers and not picked up off waivers, he would be free to sign any place he so desired, so it’s obvious as to why he’d prefer such a scenario. However the last thing he wants to do is play for a young Philadelphia team for the next two months considering he’d be getting limited run on a woeful roster.

You’d have to think the Sixers would simply try to make a move just to rid themselves of an unhappy Kirilenko but it’s hard to predict anything their front office does given how unconventional they’ve proven themselves to be.

Certainly sounds like things could get messy.
