It’s the season of giving, and often around this time of year, many athletes take kids whose parents might not be able to afford them gifts and take them shopping for toys.
Denver Nuggets center JaVale McGee is the latest to take part in the growing popular endeavor.
McGee took 50 children to the toy store for the first annual “Shop with a Jock” event.
In his Instagram post, JaVale McGee posts a video and photo of him with the children he took shopping for new toys.
McGee is just the latest athlete doing their part in giving back during the holiday season. Just yesterday, New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford took children shopping in New Jersey; and just last week, the Orlando Magic’s Nikola Vucevic, Victor Oladipo, and Elfrid Payton did the same, taking 100 children from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida on a trip to Walmart.
It’s events like this that causes sports stars to become heroes in the eyes of children and allows focus to be put on the true good guys in sports, rather than those that are in trouble with the law and constantly in the news.
