Johnny Manziel has been blasted for being a lazy player in the NFL who doesn’t care about the game, but he has responded ever so elegantly to that talk.

It was a rough season for Johnny Manziel as he rode the hype surrounding him all the way to actually stepping on the field and torching his reputation. All season long fans were calling for Manziel to start and the Brown threw him in at the first real chance they got. The result was one-and-a-half games of suck and disappointment.

Off the field, it was a season filled with various stories about Manziel partying too late, getting into fights and greenly not caring about his career. To his credit though, Johnny Manziel owned all of his problems this season and tried to set the record straight while also building some hope for the future.

In his exit press conference following the end of the Cleveland Browns season, Johnny Manziel went as far as to call himself a jackass for the way he carried himself this season.

Maiziel also openly denied that he had anything to do with a giant party that was thrown the night before he was fined for missing treatment with the Browns.

Manuel can say all of this if he wants, and it’s great to hear him being so introspective and honest with the situation he’s in. But it’s one thing to say you’re a jackass and it’s another thing to stop being one.

That’ s the dilemma Manziel faces this offseason as he will need to take massive strides in his progression to win over his teammates but that seems to be what he’s open to doing. It’s clear that something needs to change and it’s up to Manziel to locate that and then adjust to ensure he doesn’t squander what could be a solid NFL career.
