President Obama says Lions fans should be angry over blown call

The blown call in the NFC Wild Card game on Sunday is so massive that even President Obama is weighing in with sympathy and aggravation.

President Obama has the executive power to veto bills, but he is powerless in the matter of what happened to the Detroit Lions in the NFC Wild Card game this past Sunday. The controversial pass interference penalty that was reversed without explanation has become such a pop culture moment that everyone from the creator of Game of Thrones to the President of the United States of America are commenting on the matter.

Barack Obama has not made his passion for sports go unnoticed during his time in the Oval Office, and he has come forth to comment on the fiasco in Dallas from this weekend.

The Detroit News asked President Obama this week what he thought of the blown call in the NFC Wild Card game, and his response was less than supportive of officials.

"[I can’t] remember a circumstance in which a good call by one of the refs is argued about by an opposing player of the other team with his helmet off on the field, which in and of itself is supposed to be a penalty. The call is announced and then reversed without explanation. I haven’t seen that before – so I will leave it up to the experts to make the judgment as to why that happened – but I can tell you if I was a Lions fan I’d be pretty aggravated."

Obama can’t do anything about the play, as even attempting to change the call from his position would be unprofessional, and he has enough on his plate to deal with there. Critics have been on Obama since his first campaign back in 2008, and a football game is the least of his worries as he tried to balance the budget, make sure the Affordable Healthcare Act continues to thrive as well as making change despite constant resistance.

If there is anyone in the world who can relate to the Lions struggle against officiating, it’s Obama. Like the Lions, no matter how hard he tries to fight, he is met by smug resistance by the laziest congress in the history of the United States.

Of course, there are far more impactful consequences when Obama has a ruling reversed on him, whereas the Lions getting screwed by officials is more heartbreaking than anything else.
