Gronk isn’t that good?

Last week, Seattle Seahawks defensive back Jeremy Lane questioned the ability of Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski, and even said Gronk isn’t “that good.”

Here is the full quote from the Seattle Times:

“I actually don’t think he’s that good,” Lane said. “He’s OK. But he does have a big body, and from what I’ve seen on tape, he don’t like your hands being put on him. So if we put our hands on him and shake him up a little bit, he won’t catch that many balls as he should.”

Lane, the Seahawks fifth-best defensive back, is talking about the best skill position player in the NFL. This season, Gronk has 82 receptions for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns. There’s no other player in the league as dominant as Gronk because of his unique speed and pass-catching ability for such a big, strong player.

People might overreact and think this is bulletin-board material for the Patriots, but I think it’s the opposite. It’s actually bulletin-board material for the Seahawks!

I know that doesn’t seem like it makes any sense, but the Seahawks have this way of minimizing their opponents, so they believe they are better than them. That’s Richard Sherman’s whole M.O.

If Lane actually believes he’s better than Gronk, then he has a better chance of beating Gronk on the field on Sunday.

The Seahawks thrive on thinking they are the best team every time they take the field. That will be no different on Sunday.

That’s how the Seahawks roll and it’s definitely something to watch on Sunday.
