NBA Trade Deadline: 10 players in need of a new team
10. Miles Plumlee
Potential suitors: Los Angeles Clippers, any playoff team in need of a quality backup center
Complications: Suns might need him now, GM wants a first round pick in return
Poor Plumlee. When Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough fleeced the Indiana Pacers for Gerald Green, Miles Plumlee and a draft pick in the Luis Scola trade, nobody knew it was indeed a fleecing. Our first sign was Plumlee’s first ever game with the Suns, in which he started at center and put up 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.
Unfortunately, that’s still probably been Plumlee’s best NBA game, and now that Alex Len is a starter and Brandan Wright is in town, the Suns may be working with Sky Miles’ agent to figure out a trade so he can join a team where he’ll actually get minutes. Plumlee is a hardworking backup big who could help quite a few teams on a very attractive contract.
Slight caveat though: Len sprained his ankle Thursday night and with the Suns clinging to their eighth seed in the West, Phoenix might reconsider moving him if Len is expected to miss significant time. Also, McDonough will have to back down from his expectation of a first round pick as compensation for any plausible deal to occur.
