9. Thaddeus Young

Potential suitors: Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets

Complications: Free agent this summer, Timberwolves probably won’t make a trade

Maybe I should’ve started this paragraph with “poor so-and-so” instead. Thaddeus Young went from being on a good playoff team with the Philadelphia 76ers to the forgotten man on a tanking team to a rebuilding project with the Minnesota Timberwolves that has quickly progressed into long-term territory. Seeing what he can do on a good team would be a nice change of pace.

For the Wolves, Young really doesn’t fit in with their long-term rebuild, and dealing him would probably help this year’s tank job (not that it needs that much help). The only problem is Minnesota, according to The Sporting News, probably won’t make a deal before the Feb. 19 deadline.

Another problem is that Young is a free agent this summer, so teams may prefer to wait rather than give up assets for him now. The Raptors, Blazers and Spurs could all use help on the wing and his interior scoring would be a big boost to any of the three, however.
