3. Andrew Luck

In the 2011 season, Peyton Manning was sidelined for the whole year after requiring neck surgery in early August. So the Indianapolis Colts went under .500 for the first time since 2001. Even though Manning was expected to make a full recovery and still compete like he once had for the Colts, they selected Stanford standout quarterback, Andrew Luck. An athletic, stocky gunslinger who could run as fast as a full back but still throw like Drew Brees.

After Manning was sent to the Denver Broncos, the Andrew Luck era started in Indy. His rookie season, the Colts won 11 games earning them a spot in the AFC wildcard game against the Baltimore Ravens. While they did lose, they have been back to the playoffs each year, each time inching themselves a little closer to the Super Bowl.

Luck has been stellar since entering the NFL. He has thrown for 86 touchdowns to just 43 interceptions, while also rushing for a total of 905 yards and 12 touchdowns. Even though he does have a bad habit of fumbling a bit too much, he does take care of the football for the most part. And at the end of the day, there aren’t many quarterbacks who can put the ball in the end zone in the fourth quarter like Luck can. He currently has 9 fourth quarter comebacks and 12 game winning drives. Pretty solid for a player in his third year.

Who knows, with the additions of Frank Gore and Andre Johnson maybe Luck can finally get out of the AFC and make it to the Super Bowl. If Luck follows the trend that Peyton Manning set in Indy, he will have to wait 9 years before he ends up getting a ring. But something tells me this 25 year old may have a chance at winning a Super Bowl a little bit sooner than his predecessor.
