Kentucky’s center Karl-Anthony Towns says he hasn’t thought about declaring for the draft before the Final Four
Karl-Anthony Towns has emerged as one of the best freshman big men in college basketball this year. He is currently considered to be one of the top NBA draft prospects coming out of the NCAA this year if he decides to commit to being drafted. But apparently the Kentucky center isn’t thinking about the NBA just yet and might be planning on staying for his sophomore season at Kentucky.
According to Kyle Tucker, Towns hasn’t “declared” to do anything. He has averaged 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds this year. Pretty solid numbers for a freshman. At 6’11 and enough athleticism to share with his friends, he would certainly be one of the most sought after big men in this year’s draft.
But unlike so many Kentucky stars before him have done, he doesn’t want to declare to anything. He might be following in the footsteps of the Harrison twins and return for his sophomore season at Kentucky. Something that has allowed Kentucky to become one of the best college basketball teams of all time.

Although Towns doesn’t want to think about the NBA just yet. So let’s give him some time to soak everything before making a decision. After all, he has a big game this weekend.
Kentucky is slated to play against Wisconsin in the Final Four this weekend where he will face off against Frank Kaminsky, one of the best centers in college basketball. Kaminsky has averaged just under 19 points a game this year and is pretty tough to handle in the post nor is he afraid to step outside for the occasional jump shot. So I completely understand why Towns doesn’t really want to start thinking about the NBA. He has a huge hurdle to jump before he has to start thinking about it in the Wisconsin Badger’s leading scorer.
