Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid could be seen drawing up a play out of a timeout during their game against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.

The Philadelphia 76ers have long been at the forefront of the NBA’s tanking movement.

So, consider the newest aspect of their tank job as revolutionary. During Wednesday’s season-finale against the Miami Heat, the 76ers let rookie Joel Embiid draw up a play out of a timeout.

Yes, that’s correct. A 21-year-old who has never played in an NBA game was drawing up plays for the 76ers in a regular season contest.

That just about sums up the 76ers’ 2014-15 season to perfection.

Arguably the best part of this remarkable piece of footage is Embiid pulling Hollis Thompson into the huddle, as if Thompson should know that Embiid has taken over coaching duties.

It seems like Wednesday could not have gone any better for Embiid. He threw down a sick off-the-backboard dunk in warmups and then got to do a little coaching during the game.

That’s a heck of a way to close out a rookie year in which injuries held him back from actually playing.
