New York Rangers center Derick Brassard netted a goal less than 30 seconds into the team’s first-round series-opening game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Well, that didn’t take long.

Less than 30 seconds into their first-round series-opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New York Rangers opened up a 1-0 lead thanks to Derick Brassard.

The center netted a goal 28 seconds into the game off the rebound set up by a Rick Nash slapshot.

Take a look at the quick goal for yourself below:

That’s a pretty poor effort from Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, as he pretty much handed Brassard the goal with his poor rebound.

The Penguins can’t be making those types of mistakes in a series they were considered heavy underdogs entering.

But credit still should go to Brassard for taking advantage of the opportunity. This marks the second consecutive game in which he’s scored a goal, as he netted one in New York’s regular season finale as well.
