The Auburn football and equestrian teams traded places in a video promoting the school’s athletic department.

The two sport athlete is a valuable commodity in the world of college athletics. Someone like football and baseball star Jameis Winston can provide a university like his Florida State with a figure of renaissance versatility and enthusiasm that everyone would be proud to emulate.

The world would be a more stimulating place if we were all more like Jameis Winston.

Perhaps that’s a poor example, but the University of Auburn demonstrated the breadth of talent in their athletic department, showing a football player riding a horse while the equestrian team tries football. Meanwhile, the basketball team tries what they honestly believe to be gymnastics.

Well, the equestrian team did considerably better that that poor football player. Sure, the route-running was sloppy and the mechanics on the throw will need some work, but there was great work on the sprawling catch. Meanwhile, after tugging hard at that horses mouth, the football player will need some replacement thighs pretty soon.

Oh well, the experiment failed. At least Auburn has an equestrian department. Alabama’s was probably swallowed whole by their football program and

head coach Nick Saban.
