3 Starting Pitcher Sleepers

1. Ubaldo Jimenez-Baltimore Orioles: Jimenez is an extremely risky option to use on your fantasy baseball team, but he has been really good so far this season and has earned some  consideration with his strong start. He has made four starts this year and has only allowed earned runs in one of those outings.  He only allowed two unearned runs to Chicago in the game with no fans last week.  He struck out six and now has 22 strikeouts in 22.2 innings.  Tonight as he faces the Mets, he’ll pitch in Citi Field where he makes a nice sleeper option if you can afford the risk that “bad Ubaldo” shows up instead of the good pitcher we’ve seen so far this season.

2. C.J. Wilson-Los Angeles Angels: Wilson turned in his third quality start of the season last time out allowing just one earned run in seven innings against the Giants.  He has allowed more than two runs just once this season when the Royals lit him up.  In his first start of the year, Wilson faced tonight’s opponents the Mariners and held them to just two hits in eight scoreless innings.  While I don’t expect Wilson to be that good again today, I do think he’s a great option if you need a streaming starting pitcher or a value option for tonight.

3. Justin Masterson-Boston Red Sox: Masterson hasn’t won either of his last two starts, but he’s turned in solid performances in each of them.  He went six innings in his last start against New York allowing just two runs on six hits but earned a no-decision after getting the same result for his seven innings of three-run ball against the Orioles the start before that.  Masterson is in a good matchup against a depleted Tampa lineup at home tonight, so give him a look if you go with a value option in daily league play.
