3 Starting Pitcher Stay-Aways

1. Doug Fister-Washington Nationals: Two starts ago, the Braves got to Fister for ten hits and five runs in his 5.2 innings handing him his only loss of the season. That game was the second of back-to-back games in which he allowed five runs although he did bounce back with a good start against the Mets on Sunday.  Since Fister doesn’t pick up a ton of strikeouts, I don’t see his upside as being worth his risk this afternoon.

2. Jeremy Guthrie-Kansas City Royals: Guthrie has been hammered throughout his career by the Tigers and they reached him in his last start for six runs on 11 hits in six innings dropping the veteran righty to 1-2 on the season and swelling his ERA to 6.52.  Guthrie should not be played in any format today as he tries to tame the Tigers again this afternoon

3. Julio Teheran-Atlanta Braves: Even though Teheran is 3-1, he’s had an uneven start to the season allowing three runs or more in four straight starts before a solid outing his last time out against the Reds.  Today, he’ll face the Nationals whose bats are starting to heat up.  He doesn’t have great career numbers against many of Washington’s hitters including the red-hot Bryce Harper, so I’d look elsewhere for your fantasy production today.
