Mother’s Day: Brian Dozier hits a lead-off home run with a pink bat (Video)
By Mike Dyce
Minnesota Twins’ Brian Dozier hits a lead-off home run on Mother’s Day with a pink bat.
Since Major League Baseball is usually in the midst of the playoffs during the month of October, they typically don’t celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month like the NFL. On Mother’s Day MLB players and teams are busting out the pink gear to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
That inclues pink bats like the one Minnesota Twins slugger Brian Dozier is using on Sunday against the Cleveland Indians on the road. To open the game, Dozier harnessed all his strength to hit a pitch and go yard with it to get things rolling.
That’s right, a leadoff home run on Mother’s Day with a pink bat. What more could a mother ask for from a son playing in the big leagues? Maybe a really big or specatcular pink bat flip, that would’ve been nice.
Why not make the baseballs pink as well? Or what if they had to wear pink uniforms? That isn’t uncommon in European soccer, with Real Madrid donning pink uniforms lately.
Still, pink bats are pretty cool.
