3 Starting Pitcher Stay-Aways

1. Ubaldo Jimenez-Baltimore Orioles: His ERA for the season and a few seller starts are tempting since he has flashed a return to elite form, but he has still been inconsistent and struggled his last time out against the Mets.  In that outing he allowed three runs on six hits in just four innings, and he’s also in a tough matchup tonight as he takes on the Blue Jays.  Toronto reached him for four runs on six hits in five innings earlier this season, so I’d take a pass on the risky Ubaldo tonight and go will a less volatile option..

2. Danny Duffy-Kansas City Royals: Duffy is usually one of my favorite sleepers and streaming options, but he’s in a rough patch now, so I’d look elsewhere (see next slide) for tonight.  Duffy only lasted one inning in his last start which came Wednesday against the Indians.  He was reached in that game for four runs on six hits in his lone inning of work raising his ERA to 4.55 on the year.  I do think Duffy will get it turned back around, but taking on the Rangers in Arlington makes him too risky of an option for me tonight.

3. CC Sabathia-New York Yankees: The Rays have never been kind to Sabathia, and I’d stay away as he stumbles into Tampa tonight.  Sabbath is 0-5 on the season with a 5.45 ERA.  While the Yankees have been surprisingly good, Sabathia hasn’t been a part of the turnaround and isn’t an option I’d consider in any format as he starts against Tampa Bay tonight.
