Rapper Diddy was arrested for fighting with a UCLA coach over his son.

UPDATE: Diddy was arrested for assaulting a coach with a kettlebell.

Per UCLA, via SB Nation:

"Shortly after 12:30 p.m. today, Sean Combs (also known as P. Diddy) was arrested at UCLA’s Acosta Athletic Training Complex on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, which was a kettlebell [a weighted piece of exercise equipment, similar to a dumbbell]. No one was seriously injured and UCPD is investigating. Combs is expected to be transported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center later this evening."

According to a report, rapper Diddy (aka Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Sean Combs and more names we forgot) was arrested for fighting with an assistant UCLA football coach over his son. Diddy’s son is a defensive back on the Bruins’ football team.

Here are the meat and potatoes from the TMZ report:

  • Was arrested for allegedly getting in a fight
  • Fight occurred at UCLA athletic facility
  • Campus police took him into custody early Monday afternoon
  • Diddy is still in custody (as of 6pm ET)

Apparently an incident coach was screaming at Diddy’s kid, and Diddy wasn’t to fond of it and confronted said coach and grabbed him.

This seems like a rather irrational moment on the part of Diddy. I understand that this is your kid and no one likes to see their kid get yelled at, but this is Division 1 football and your kid is legally an adult. This isn’t tee-ball or pop warner and some coach is going above and beyond what is acceptable behavior.

I don’t know if roughing up your kid’s college football coach necessarily adds to your street cred. UCLA will likely be rethinking who they let attend practice and having Diddy trolling the sidelines might not be worth any recruiting boost he provides.

Plus, they’ll have Snoop Dogg there anyways. He even said he’d throw away all his beloved USC gear to support his son and UCLA now.

East Coast vs. West Coast all over again.

Think he is in the campus jail with some bros saying “can’t nobody hold me down.” Or better yet… rapping it?
