3. Bryant could win the crown

Like I said in the previous slide, Bryant could easily win the whole thing. Well, he can’t win it with ease, but you get the point. Bryant has the talent and the potential to be the best hitter in baseball and there’s a reason Cubs fans were begging the organization to promote the young star to the majors even though he hadn’t spent much time in the minors.

Bryant is on pace to finish his rookie season with about 26 home runs and 100 RBI — some incredible numbers for a kid who is barely old enough to grab a drink at the bar.

Chicago has embraced Bryant like no other and he’s basically a hero in that city because baseball is now relevant again. Every time he steps up to the plate, he’s a threat to go deep. Over a third of his hits have been for extra bases and his home run numbers will go up as his career goes on.

This kid has the potential to hit 40-plus homers a year, so why not let him get started at the Home Run Derby? Let’s see if he can break the all-time record for a single contest of 41 set by Bobby Abreu back in 2005 at Comerica Park.

Adding Bryant to the list of competitors could be the start of something special with the kid.
