NBA Free Agency 2015: Best fits for Top 25 remaining free agents
By Josh Hill
19. Jason Terry, SG
Free Agent Status: Unrestricted
Best Fits: Rockets, Kings
This is a two way debate here, as fans are wondering where Terry will sign as much as they are about if he is going to return next season. Terry is old and might retire, but returning to somewhere like Houston or Sacramento — two contending teams — that could be something that extends his career one more season.
18. Darrell Arthur, PF
Free Agent Status: Unrestricted
Best Fits: Nuggets, Clippers
He’s young, agile and could be a sneaky signing for a contender like the Los Angeles Clippers. They are reeling after losing DeAndre Jordan, and adding Arthur — who flourished in the hell hole of Denver — could be a nice fixer.
17. Aaron Brooks, PG
Free Agent Status: Unrestricted
Best Fits: Rockets, Sixers, Bulls
The Bulls have a way of bringing in backup guards and getting them paid on their next deals. Thank Derrick Rose’s noodle knees for this, as D.J. Augustin rolled into a nice contract post-Bulls and Aaron Brooks looks to be in line for a nice deal as a backup on a contender this summer.
16. Leandro Barbosa, SG
Free Agent Status: Unrestricted
Best Fits: Suns, Warriors
He’s hardly going to be a long-term signing but he was a spark plug for the Dubs in the postseason and that’s something they could re-sign him for. He could also go back to Phoenix and bring his career full circle, which wouldn’t be the worst way to go out since they’re fringe contenders.
15. Dorell Wright, SF
Free Agent Status: Unrestricted
Best Fits: Blazers, Clippers
If you need someone who is going to take jump shots and be a slight upgrade on defense, then Dorell Wright is your man. The Clippers basically need every remaining free agent out there, and Wright could end up being a fit for them. He’s had success in the past and coming off the bench for Doc Rivers might be a way to utilize his skills and remind us how great he once was as a starter.
