One San Francisco Giants fan went all-out for a home run ball on Friday.

Scoot over baby-holding foul ball guy. Adios, king of the catch Zack Hample. And sayonara to all you cats who snag a ball in your cup and then play chug the beer. There’s a new sheriff in town: the dude who takes running leaps into McCovey Cove for home run balls.

During the bottom of the 7th inning of Friday’s game against Philadelphia, Giants second baseman Joe Panik sat on a 1-0 pitch and sent a rocket shot into McCovey Cove. And while cranking a moon blast into the cove is never not impressive, it’s doubly so when one fan has the dedication to hurdle the railing, lay out for the ball, and beat whatever kayakers may be around.

Let’s see that … in an instant replay.

Pretty much the human version of dock dogs right there, albeit with less style and grace. See ball fly, sniff it out, take the leap and acquire the target.

Heck, even King Hample took notice because game recognizes game.

As for the baseball game itself, well, it was pretty much a slaughterhouse with the Giants demoralizing the Phils, 15-2. Panik also went out and had himself a night, going 4-for-6, scoring two runs, knocking in three RBI and cranking that one home run into the splash zone. All in all, a fun evening if you’re a Giants fan.
