2. Harry Giles, PF (High Point, NC)

Yet another North Carolina product, Harry Giles is considered by some to be the best high school player in the 2016 class, but 247Sports has him ranked a solid No. 2.

  • Unfortunately for N.C. Sate, for every one elite player interested in the Wolfpack, there are about three that are interested in the Tar Heels and Blue Devils. It has to be tough luck recruiting the same targets as two national powerhouses.

Giles has proven to be an elite power forward in this class with a successful junior season and performing for Team USA on the U-19 squad.

The nation’s No. 1 power forward just trimmed his list to a top-five on July 20, citing Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky and Wake Forest as his final group. All of those programs have had successful pasts and most are still powerhouses, with the exception of Wake Forest.

Why do I believe Duke will be his college of choice? Besides developing two of the NBA’s best young big men in Jahlil Okafor and Jabari Parker in the past two years, Giles was teammates with recent Blue Devils’ commit Jayson Tatum for the USA U-19 team that won gold.

Early team chemistry is key and those two could make a heck of a small forward-power forward combo for the Blue Devils.

    Prediction: Duke Blue Devils
