Ameer Abdullah-Detroit Lions

After those there rookie RB are off the board, there is a big drop-off before getting the the next group of rookie options. Amber Abdullah was taken just 18 picks after Yeldon in the second round of the NFL draft, but here is one big difference that drops him out of the top 30 fantasy backs.

The difference is that the Lions already have a fairly established every-down running back in place in the person of Joique Bell.  Bell did share work the last few seasons with Reggie Bush and has had some injury concerns, but he is reportedly on track to be ready for week one.

With Bell handling the majority of the work and the Lions going with a fairly pass-heavy scheme, Adbullah is not in line to be a regular fantasy starter when the season gets underway. However, I do think there will be weeks that Abdullah is definitely going to be starter material and he should be drafted in all formats.

Abdullah should get about ten touches per game to start the year and his share could quickly grow especially if Bell struggles with injuries again.  If you can grab Abdullah as your fourth RB, it’s a pick that I think will pay off at some point this season although you may need some patience and an extra bench spot at the beginning of the year.
